Sammy Obeid debuts on Netflix

WHERE ARE THEY NOW — past San Francisco Comedy Competition finalist Sammy Obeid debuts Friday, March 13, on Netflix as the host of “100 Humans” wherein he will do experiments on a group of 100 participants over the course of a week. Meanwhile, his stand-up has never been stronger, having had to be dragged off the stage after a 75-minute Tour de Force at Folktale Winery in Carmel last Friday and scheduled to close another Best of the San Francisco Comedy Competition gig at Black Oak Casino on March 5.

Lebanese-American born in Oakland California, Sammy Obeid double majored in Business and Mathematics at UC Berkeley and then turned down a job at Google to become a comedian. He’s best known for setting a world record for performing stand up comedy 1,001 consecutive nights, and was featured in The New York Times and Time Magazine.  In the last few years, Sammy has performed at over 200 colleges across the US, and was voted “Fastest Rising Star” by Campus Magazine.  He also tours internationally, including trips to the Middle East and Russia.  In 2016, Sammy was asked to headline Moscow’s first ever comedy festival, making him the first American comedian to be invited to headline in Russia.  He’s also made TV appearances on NBC’s Last Comic Standing, America’s Got Talent, TBS’s Conan, and was the first comedian to ever perform stand up on the Food Network.

Comedy Underground wins Best Comedy Club Poll. Again.

The readers of the Seattle Weekly have named the Seattle Comedy Underground, the best comedy club in Seattle.

We’re very honored. We’ve lost track of how many times we have been chosen as the best comedy club by Rolling Stone, Seattle Weekly and others, weÆre just happy the hard work we put in as one of the best comedy venues in the US has been noticed.

Like many of the world’s best comedy venues, the Comedy Underground is in a basement. The low ceiling and audience proximity adds an element of vulnerability that often brings out the best in the performers. Quality touring acts come through this club, often on the verge of a breakout. Plus, with open mic night on Monday, you can finally try those jokes you’ve been practicing on your friends.
